As long as technology has been an industry there have been technology moguls. These are the brilliant men and women that we turn to for the next big thing, and often times we get so used to them being there to provide ideas for the next generation of advancement that when they die we’re often shocked. Of course different mogulas have met their ends in different ways over the years, reminding us that whatever their value or their empire, they share with us the same inevitability in the end.

Perhaps one of the biggest deaths of a technology mogul in recent memory was the death of Steve Jobs. The face of Apple computers, Jobs had long been a man on the scene and associated with some of the greatest advancements in computers. Unfortunately he succumbed to disease, and though he is now gone his company carries on as a fitting legacy.

ReiJane Huai is another technology mogul that met an untimely end; the difference is that he met his by his own hand. The software developer and technological composer shot himself in the head while he was being investigated for insider trading. Though unfortunate, it’s also a commonality that sometimes people don’t see another way out of a bad situation.

John Delaney, a prediction technology mogul from Ireland, is one of several men whose lives have been claimed by Mount Everest. Delaney succumbed to a sudden attack while he was still some distance from the summit, and he couldn’t be revived. He had attempted to climb the mountain 5 years previously and hadn’t been able to do so. His company, which specialized in wagering on outcomes of events, survived him along with a wife and two children.
